Audaciously located at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre on the Dolphin Coast (KZN) of South Africa, Zaras Cafe is a trendy hot spot with a fantastic menu.Crisp and clean, the decor lends itself towards blue skies and hot sunshine.

Our well-thought-out menu is a tempting array of a fresh fusion of continental-style dishes with Greek, Italian and South African influences that include extraordinary and unique breakfasts, salads, speciality meals, delectable pastries and breads, and rich aromatic coffees.

The Venue
Zaras Cafe takes the prime sunlit location at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre perfectly set for continental-style al fresco dining.

Both indoor and outdoor zones are spacious, bright and clean. The restaurant décor is crisp and contemporary with unusual touches furnished by Maro's creative yet elegant hand.

This vibrant venue embraces and permits a comfortable experience for all manner of dining interactions. Large parties of family and friends, individuals who wish to entertain their day-dream hassle-free, business associates, twosomes and all sorts are welcome and at ease in this down-to-earth setting.We are committed to providing our guests with friendly and efficient service, unrivalled quality food and an environment that is comfortable, bright and uncomplicated.

The Food
Zaras food is an exciting array of classic dishes with a modern twist incorporating interesting global influences designed to delight the senses.

Using only the freshest produce and sourcing fresh vegetables and herbs from local farms, the food is no doubt colourful, attractive and appetising. Apart from the best, very more-ish Danish Pastries imported from Belgium, all food is cooked and breads are baked on-site. The bakery starts working their magic at 6am daily therefore only the freshest bakes can be expected.

Dedicated to food and committed to customer satisfaction, Maro and Kim are constantly redesigning dishes, some taking months to perfect, in an endeavour to keep the menu novel and extraordinary.

The Owner
With more than 16 years experience in the restaurant industry, Maro Zaroudoukas triumphantly owned two Ninos stores spanning a period of 10 years. Following that and her own personal need for expansion, expression and growth, Maro, the dynamic individual that she is, forged ahead with the opening of her very own restaurant, Zaras.

First opening in Umhlanga Rocks in 2006, a second Zaras swiftly followed in Durban North in 2007. Although both were geared for victory, her presence was missed and thus diluted through the ownership of two stores. Recognising that the cornerstone of the success of her restaurant is her very effervescent and charismatic personality, she prudently sold up and relocated the flagship store to the rapidly developing Dolphin Coast in 2010 where she personally establishes and maintains good rapport with all her guests.

A determined and vivacious peoples person, she launched Zaras at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre with huge success. A perfectionist and captain of this tight ship, she is well respected and adored by her team for her no-nonsense approach to maintaining only the highest standards and keeping her guests coming back for more scrumptious food, excellent service and vibrant atmosphere.
